Closing out 2010, Starting up 2011

Hey there, well we have been really bad about updating our blog and letting everybody know what has been going on down here in North Carolina. So one of our resolutions for 2011 is to be MUCH better about it. So....here we go.

Closing out 2010

We had several highlights in 2010, several of them you have already been updated on (our new home and the addition of Kingsley). One of the biggest highlights is that we have celebrated our first year of marriage! We spent our anniversary apple picking and spending some very much needed quality time together. We also survived our first holloween in our new home. Now you may be questioning why we used the word "survived." We weren't sure what to expect in our new neighborhood since there are a lot of kids around. Well we were hit with about 150 kids, several adults, and 1 grandmother in 3 hours. We had JUST enough candy, but learned a valuable lesson for next year.

If I put my ear to it, I can hear the ocean!

Didn't seem like a lot of apples at the time

I swear my bone is in here...

We started off November with Lee's Uncle Bob and best friend Troy coming down for a long weekend to help Lee build a double work bench and storage area in our garage. Now you might not think this is "update worthy" for our blog, however what started out as a garage project ended up with a surprise twist! Friday evening while cleaning up, the four of us were greated by an SUV honking at the end of our driveway. Upon closer inspection, Lee's Aunt and Grandparents from Colorado made the 1700 mile, 4 day drive cross country to "inspect" the project. Unfortunately, the weekend was bitter sweet. Lee, Bob, and Troy were able to finish the project on time and under budget, however Lee's grandfather ended up in the hospital for nearly a week due to pneumonia. Fortunately, he was able to recover and they all made the long drive back to Colorado safe and sound.

The rest of November and December were quiet after our surprise guests had left. We finished off 2010 with peace and quiet.

What a motley crew

Now for 2011....

We started off 2011 with Lee's 29th birthday. Becky's 29th birthday is right around the corner on the 21st as well. We were greeted by our first major snow storm of 2011 this weekend. As we update our blog, we have 5" of snow, with freezing rain falling down. Kingsley LOVES the snow, now that he has figured out that snowballs are kind of like tennis balls, except that they fall apart more often.

THROW THE BALL!!!!!!!!

I can't find it

Nap time after playing in the snow

Our crystal ball doesn't show much for 2011 thus far. There are several trips in the works, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Maryland, the Outer Banks, and possibly even Colorado.....who knows.

Other news...

Lee's job in Cherokee, NC is pretty stressful. He has put nearly 15,000 miles on his Jeep since June, and has been dealing with LOTS of snow and ice for weeks. He is doing alright though, taking each day as they come and we are managing the distance as best we can. For those of you that don't know what he is doing up there, he is working on a $125+ million dollar expansion and renovation of the Harrah's Cherokee Casino on the Cherokee Indian Reservation. He is currently assigned to two projects up there and is in charge of two exterior walls, roofs, and landscaping worth approximately $10-$15 million dollars. He is also managing the 3D modeling coordination process. Needless to say, he is busy.

Becky has been busy as well. She is single handedly been running the house during the week, and keeping up with both Kingsley and Oliver. She has also been continuing her search for employement. Unfortunately, the market being what it is in North and South Carolina, not much has presented itself.

The weekends usually go one of two ways for us. Either we are traveling, spending time with friends and family, or chillaxin (that's right, I made up a word) at home spending quality time with each other. Kingsley and Oliver are doing just fine. Kingsley still hasn't gotten over his car sickness issue, but we are hopeful that with more car trips he will eventually kick it.

Well that pretty much wraps up the end of 2010 and the start of 2011. We swear we will be updating our blog more!
